just an awkward day

This week I started a rule...no more TV. Not for ever, but just until we realize its not a life source we need to be able to continue living. Really it has not been as hard as I thought it would be. I think I was just allowing it to happen because I was bored. I would let him watch it because I would think "oh poor baby is bored, and I am just to tired to go anywhere right now." Well what have I been saying about this child since day one...he is a very content child. I forgot how easily he is amused by things. I just have to give forth the time and effort for him. So I am very sad to admit that this TV junkie of mine is all my fault.

So I asked my friend Kathy if her and her girls would like to spend the day together on Thursday. Just to get out of the house and do something fun. We decided on the Science Center, then a fun lunch some where.

The Science Center has been my idea for a couple of weeks now. I went last fall and we really had a good time, there was a lot of a little one to do. So this whole 'awkward day' I will have to admit is my fault.

We decided to park at the old SC and walk across the tunnel over the interstate...because that's always fun...right?!?

Well the old SC is all about earth and the solar system, which is cool, but for older kids. But they had fun climbing stuffed spaceship.Things started off good, they were all holding hands nicely. We finally get to the overpass tunnel, and duh, how long have they been doing the 64/40 construction. The interstate is closed, so no cars to look at. They still got to look through the holes in the ground, but just at plain concrete, not even any stripes. But hey that's okay, at the other end of the overpass is all the fun stuff for the kids, especially the little ones. Well come to find out, that is also under construction, so nothing to do for little ones. Which this was supposed to be the biggest highlight for them.We did finally find the big blocks that build the arch. But that was it. That was fun though, Annabel and I raced against Kathy to get our side built faster, and we were winning until a little terror named Ryan came along and kept trying to knock ours down. And Kathy thought she didn't have a helper, ha she ended up winning because Ryan finally got ours to fall. After defeat of absolutely nothing for these kids to do we decided to leave, we did find a little Lego stand right before we left. And a big playing elevator with lots and lots of cool buttons and levers to play with.
We decided to go the History Museum hoping for some fun there, we failed again...not for kids. We went to a big playground, we failed again...too hot. We went to Fitz's Root beer for lunch, we failed again...kids to tired and hungry.
We did not have a bad day, we just didn't have a good day. I would say it was just awkward.
Can't wait till next time though!!!
